How To Flirt With An Engineer And Why You Might Not Want To
A few months ago, I got a suggestion on posting how to flirt with an engineer. The more I considered it the more I questioned the wisdom of such a post. It’s not that I don’t believe you should engage in a relationship with an engineer but until you understand your …Why All The Negative Political Ads? Are Politicians Afraid Of A Position?
I just finished exercising my political rights by voting against all the candidates so far from my own political views that I had no choice but to vote for their opposition. Looking back on my experience, I realize every vote I made was for the lessor evil. I did my …An Engineer’s Observations On Becoming A Better Supervisor
There was a time, long ago, when I thought the design was everything. Not to brag, but I was really good at it. I did the hardware, the software and the testing. I was a one man show. Fortunately, my management recognized this limited the complexity of the designs I …Learning Through Analogy
I don’t know about most people but when I’m learning a new task, I look for analogies with skills I already possess. I’m not always successful but sometimes I stumble on a valid analogy that exists between two totally unrelated fields. For example, the relationship between raising plants and writing software is …Nothing Personal But I Don’t Trust Your Email

Hi again Byron, I am the same one who discovered your website today, posting comments online for the first time ever. I’m so glad you’re putting a voice out there for our engineer friends and family. Because if you aren’t an engineer yourself, it’s kind of hard otherwise to understand the parts that are internal thoughts, formulas and just how things make sense. Your articles are a good reminder that we need to keep encouraging kids (boys AND girls) into the engineering fields. Thanks!
Are you a counselor too?
Counselor is one of the few endeavors I’ve never tried. I do enjoy acting as a mentor to younger engineers but that’s an entirely different skill set.
Hello Byron, did you write these stories? Bob Rosas
Yes, I wrote them several years ago. Still writing, hope I’m getting better with each tale.

it sure sound like you !!!
Yes, that would be me. Or, at least, a much older and not much wiser version of that young engineer.
